In 2001, Mark Prensky identified the digital native and the digital immigrant. Since then, the “digital melting pot” has emerged--including digital natives, immigrants, pioneers, and tourists.
In “Digital Culture: Immigrants and Tourists Responding to the Natives’ Drumbeat,” Cheri Toledo asks the question, “How do we help our digital tourist colleagues emigrate from their technology barren land and become digital immigrants in 21st century education?” This is the challenge for all digital leaders across the state.
